From the Director

An interesting moment to relive the magic of Neverland but also take a step further into Kimberly Belflower’s Lost Girl. Wendy is all grown up and the search for Peter Pan is a driving force because the ache of missing him is real. I love that the play centers Wendy’s coming of age story as she discovers adult emotions and feelings for the first time, as she defines what makes a home a home, experiences evolving friendships, comes to terms with a memory where maybe things aren’t as she remembered them, and ultimately learns the lessons of love, loss, and letting go. Perhaps one of the biggest takeaways from Lost Girl is a meditation on grief. After a person that we love dearly is gone, all we have is the memories to look back on. Kimberly, through the voice of a young Wendy, enlightens us: “If I stop being sad, I stop remembering him. It hurts to remember, but it hurts more to forget… Memories are all we have to fill us up inside.”
