Eurydice

Eurydice

Eurydice

Sarah Ruhl

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute

March 10-12, 2022

From the Director

Sarah Ruhl’s dynamic world has created a boundless sandbox for our actors and designers to play in. Tapping into true theater magic, Eurydice is a play full of poetic gestures and ideas so rich that your imagination takes over and you get to dream a little. I have always grappled with the Orpheus and Eurydice myth and what compels us to tell this story over and over again as if we are expecting a different outcome each time. What if Orpheus had blind faith and trusted that Eurydice was there and didn’t turn around? Each time he goes to the Underworld to rescue her, just maybe this time he gets to leave with her. That’s the gift of this play, hope for a better outcome and a great bit of theater magic.
